In the first room two projections will stimulate you with visual vignettes while an additional two projections scroll phrases which have been said by the artist.  Music and sounds produced by Worm will reverberate throughout the viewing room.  One may sit in the room’s center to feed into the energy of the experience. You can even smell the air.

A photography installation measuring 10ft x 8ft from his series “Afterthoughts”, will adorn the wall of the gallery’s upper room.  In the third room there will be 7 pieces from the gallery’s permanent collection of artists: Raquel Echanique, Michael Kronenberg, Antoinette Johnson, Mikki Nylund, Mike Noel, Grant Stoops and Teddi Rogers.

Born and raised in Delray Beach, Florida in 1983, Jae Basch took on the persona of “Worm Carnevale” after being inspired to pursue his newfound passion for photography when he was at a local party and started flipping through Heaven to Hell, a book of photographs by David LaChapelle, a fashion, advertising, and fine art photographer and filmmaker who is well known for his gritty, surreal, and often humorous work.

“Yeah man, I was looking through this book and I was completely blown away by how much LaChapelle’s style mimicked those dreams I had been having since I was a child. That’s when it occurred to me that this was my next step in life, this is what I had to do.”

Worm explained that he had been working in commercial real estate for five years and had grown tired of the empty feeling he was left with at the end of the day. “For a while the money was great and I was living large, but there was still something missing, because I wasn’t being fulfilled. Then a year and half ago the market took a turn, real estate started to tank and I was prompted to ask myself ‘What next?’ That’s when God spoke to me as I was peeling through Heaven to Hell. That’s when I knew I was destined to become a photographer.” <courtesy of Examiner.com>

Weekend in Review

nyc subway sleeping 6 Weekend in Review picturesThis past weekend went much too fast…but still was able to squeeze in a soccer game, wedding (not mine, just attended), trip to the beach, watch more Rocky reruns, grocery shopping, shoot a few photos, write several lines of code for my new photography project, and yes, celebrate another Father’s Day with my father! Not a bad weekend!

Only had a handful of photoblog submissions, due to a glitch on my part….forgot to re-activate the WP-Contact Form, while I was working on a bug with the sidebar…oops!
