Facebook Like Button

I just wanted to take a moment to alert everyone that we have now added a Facebook Like button to our posts. We have recently seen a tremendous increase in Facebook traffic to our site and finally got around to adding this great plugin. As we continue to grow our photography community, we encourage everyone to share our posts with all your friends.

Thanks again to all the subscribers and site visitors for the incredible support you have shown for our site. As always, your comments and suggestions are appreciated and highly encouraged!

Looking for love

One of the most interesting things I enjoy about visiting photography blogs is not just the postings you may discover, but also the links to photography sites other commenters leave behind. I find many quality photographers just by following these little “breadcrumbs”. So, I recently did a little research (thanks InfoPreneur) on how to add more value to the wonderful comments each of you leaves from time to time and discovered a cool WordPress plugin, CommentLuv.

CommentLuv is actually “breadcrumbs on steroids”. As you craft a comment and enter your contact information, this plugin goes out and searches for your last posting and incorporates it with your comment. Pretty sweet. So now, not only are you leaving behind your insightful comment, but also a great way for me and other viewers to see what you are currently writing about on your blog. Here’s the author’s description of how CommentLuv works…

“This plugin will visit the site of the comment author while they type their comment and retrieve a selection of their last blog posts, tweets or digg submissions which they can choose one from to include at the bottom of their comment when they click submit…”

The only downside to this plugin I’ve found is, once installed, it does not address the previously posted comments. To the 2000+ visitors who took the time to comment in the past, I’m sorry. But what a great reason to leave a new comment today! Hope you enjoy this new feature.

Photography Forums R Us

For regular visitors of our site, this morning you may have noticed the addition of a new feature, photography blog forum…on the menu bar. This is just another of the many cool wordpress plugins I’ve implemented to add a little more flavor to our site. If you’re interested, the forum plugin available at Simple: Press Forum.

Give it a try, and let me know about any bugs you come across. I have just posted a couple of topics to prime the pump, but feel free to start your own discussions. “At this time”, no registration is required.

How to quickly embed HTML tables in WordPress

Regular visitors of ILovePhotoblog.com will notice my recent facelift. Well, not me personally, although it has been considered, but rather to the main page of listing the top photoblogs around the world. After struggling from the beginning with posting my handwritten/edited html table on a daily basis and the nuances of how WordPress handles html, I found a solution. Thanks to the programming skills of Alex Rabe and his WP-Tables plugin for WordPress, my work/rework has been greatly reduced. In addition to the ease of adding to the main photoblog list, this plugin has a sorting function as well. I am a Firefox user, and have tested the new table in IE and Safari, no problems. The only issue I encounter is on my machine running IE and Vista, some blocking is occurring that I have yet to figure out. Suggestions?

Buy a beer WordPress plugin

A friend called me this weekend to discuss our latest photography projects, and we talked about the need to get together a share beer and stories. Since the distance between us made sharing our favorite beverage impossible, he stated about the need to be able to share beverages from far away. (Light bulb moment). Enter the Buy a Beer WordPress plugin created by Ankesh Kothari. I just found this great plugin, and am looking forward to enjoying my first eBeer.

[UPDATE - I have currently deactivated this plugin. Trying to cut down on my beer consumption.]
