“All my life I have been very interested in taking pictures and photography. So far I had taken photographs with regular digital camera. Recently I decided moving towards to digital SLR. I started taking photography classes. This blog is my photography diary. I will post only my photographs, so I can see my improvement.”

“In the past I worked on Blue Flower project for my other blog. For Zcaptures I have ideas for new projects. First I have to improve my photography skills. Eventually I will find my own style. My dream is one day I will have my own exhibition at Guggenheim or MOMA. Don’t laugh! When I moved to NYC nine years ago. I worked hard and still I’m working harder. I believe if someone really wants to achieve something, eventually he will. I hope my will come truth in the near future. Wish me luck!”

“I am only interested in showing the truth.” says Mapa, a street photographer and a Senior creative. “I feel a strong purpose in serving the people and uncovering the truth behind their life conditions and stories.” Mapa is from Manila, Philippines and now based in Singapore.

A big fan of Cartier-Bresson and W. Eugene Smith, Mapa’s enthusiasm for photography came about at an early age of 7 when his parents gave him a KODAK 110 camera which he uses to take holiday snapshots. Having both parents as community servants, he grew up socially-aware and this was pivotal in his ingenuity as a street photographer. A solid black & white film photographer, Mapa firmly believes that, “only black & white captures the soul of the subject. It’s unpretentious.”

A Journey Through My Camera Lens | Street Photography | Joupin Ghamsari

“My name is Joupin and i started my photo blog as i wanted people to see what i see throughout everyday life. I want to take people on a journey and i like to capture moments as they happen. I tend to do a lot of portraits as each person is different and each person displays a different emotion every time.”

“I also like to capture everyday things as these are things which everyone can relate too. I shoot mainly in B&W as to me it allows the audience to see the full emotion and story behind the image.”

“I am currently using a nikon d90 with the 18-105 kit lens and shall be upgrading my lens very soon, although i believe it is the photographer and subject who makes the picture and not the lens or camera. All of my images have been taken over the past 3 months and before this i had never really picked up a camera before.”

Life is how you see it. A long time ago, when I used to look at life through my eyes wide open, I saw it all at the same time. The order, and the clutter. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Something changed over the last few years as I have started looking through the constraining frame of a camera viewfinder. The world is suddenly a different place. I am beginning to see things I didn’t know existed. I am able to find beauty in strange things.

I live in beautiful California. I have learned to combine the other things I enjoy most, visiting places and hiking, to photography. So I am very rarely outdoors without a camera.

As you might have already noticed, I shoot mostly black and white film. I like Kodak Tri-X 400 a lot, but also use Kodak Tmax 100 and 3200, and Fuji Neopan 100 and 1600.

My main camera is the Leica M6, with a Summicron 50mm lens, although I’ve recently gotten a Pentax *ist D, my first serious digital camera, and am experimenting with it in the street.

My 35mm SLR cameras are Pentax. I own an autofocus body (ZX5N,) but usually favor my older, manual focus MX. It is are solid little precision machin that feels great in your hands and is excellent to walk with. Just looking through one of these viewfinders after using an autofocus camera is enough to love them. Along the same lines, I’ve been using mostly fixed focal length lenses.

I also use a Canon Canonet rangefinder sometimes. It is a small camera made in the 70′s, very silent and with an excellent, fast lens. They are not very hard to get, and if you want a camera with good optics and manual control for under $80, this is the way to go.

Sometimes, I shoot medium format film, either with a couple of Russian Lubitel TLRs, or with a plastic Holga toy camera. I often make experiments, like my one element, one group Pentax SLR lens design, which you can see here.

I scan film using a Polaroid Sprintscan 4000 film scanner. I tweak things in Photoshop (although always trying to only do things possible also in a traditional darkroom–don’t ask me why) and print with an Epson 1160 inkjet printer using PiezographyBW or MIS archival black and white inks. These inks yield an amazing range of tones, some say superior to traditional prints…juan buhler photo blog

Urban Views | New York City Photographer Markus Hartel

markus hartel new york street photographer 300x200 Urban Views | New York City Photographer Markus Hartel pictures“I developed my love for photography when I was a kid. My grandma used to give me her old rangefinder to take family pictures; that was fun! As a teenager, I bought my first camera and did more or less “point and shoot” photography, but within a few years, I developed the necessary technical skills for serious photography. Later on, I owned a shop for graphic design and prepress and used one of the first digital SLRs then did many digital product shots for my clients. Nowadays, I find myself wandering through the streets of New York City enjoying street photography.”
