Self Portraiture Fantasies by Photographer Diana Debord

Diana was born in Novara, Italy in 1984. Many people have described her photography and self-portraiture as a mix of Alice in Wonderland and Amélie, for its decadent romanticism and dreamlike atmosphere.

“I want my colours to be a rebellion towards the greyness and alienation of modern life. My aim is to capture the magic in everyday life, giving reality a dreamlike touch.”

Diana works with both digital and analogue photography: in this case she experiments with Polaroid and Lomography cameras. Her main inspirations are nature, Edgar Allan Poe’s works and Pre-raphaelites paintings.

Diana’s works have been featured in several magazines and exhibited in many occasions. In October 2009 her first solo exhibition “Ophelia’s dream” in her hometown Novara. She contributes to Asap Fanzine with music reviews and photos, and she’s the co-founder of Avanguardia Onirica, an artistic project organizing events with music, poetry and photography.

A Parisian-born shutterbug who likes to flash her camera has turned daily routines in the Naked City into works of art.

Photographer Erica Simone, 25, has gone au naturel in a series of self-portraits taken around New York. In them, she rides the subway, checks out library books and shovels the snow on the sidewalk outside her apartment – all in the buff.

The 20 shots are part of Simone‘s new exhibit “Nue York: Self-Portraits of a Bare Urban Citizen,” which opens next month at the Dash Gallery in Tribeca.photographerl erica simone Adventures in Nude Self Portraits: Parisian born photographer Erica Simone pictures

The inspiration for the photos came to Simone during Fashion Week two years ago.

“I was sitting around thinking about fashion and what would we be if we were naked and what if we didn’t have fashion to show who we were, our status, how much money we had, all these things,” she told the Daily News.

“Then I got the photographic idea of shooting people naked in the street, but just doing regular things, not especially posing, or being naked, but doing whatever.”

Some say most left-handed are totally into arts and are very creative. Absolutely right! Instead of dribbling the ball to put my 189cm height into good use, I chose to nurture and hone my innate (at least that’s what i think) skills in design. My name is Jason Tan, an amateur photographer who never complains about my 10kg camera bag and bulky tripod while wandering around cities under the scorching heat of the sun. I am a perfectionist who is never satisfied with what he has and is always seeking advancement.

It all started with self-portrait photography. Flipping over pages in magazines, inspiration caught me in and poof! I started trying different poses in front of the little compact camera. I never left my creaking chair until I finish editing in photoshop. Positive feedbacks inspired me take a step further and fueled me to continue my unrelenting pursuit for more unique and interesting subjects.

From a Panasonic Lumix to D60, I upgraded to D300. In each change of camera, in each angle taken with different lens, valuable experiences were gained. And of course, it won’t stop here. Photo-walking has became my habit nowadays. My interest and curiosity brought my feet to different countries and places where I wandered around aimlessly, where I got lost in a maze of disorganized streets, and more importantly, where I explored every single detail of the life as lived by people of diverse cultures and values.
