Seattle based photographer Alasdair Turner

Adventure and wildlife photography blog. I am a mountaineering and climbing guide based in Seattle. I have been shooting photos for the last 20 years and realized in the last 5 years that mountain guiding and photography go hand in hand as professions.

A local resident of Seattle, Alasdair Turner has been photographing the Pacific Northwest and Alaska since 1991. It is not unusual to spot him camera ready on the side of the road or while tied in crossing a glacier. Uninhibited by terrain or the wet, cold weather that distinguishes the Pacific Northwest, he captures the fleeting moments that make the mountain experience unforgettable.

“I didn’t really mean to become a photographer. But with the first photo that I took of a batch of homemade raspberry scones, I knew I was a goner. My family quickly learned to ask first before digging in with their forks as I became completely snap-happy around any kind of food. Family vacations were hijacked to make special trips to particularly photogenic markets or restaurants.

Luckily for me, and my family, this passion quickly turned into something a bit more useful… beautiful images of food, travel and life for editorial publications and advertising.

I keep a very small shop. My studio is located in my light-filled house. I mostly do my own food and prop styling. I love to use natural sunlight light. About Jamie Pflughoeft

Who or what is Cowbelly you wonder? Cowbelly Pet Photography is owned and operated by a gal named Jamie Pflughoeft (pronounced ’flew-hufft’), a Seattle native, urban-dweller and self-professed dog fanatic.

Jamie developed a passion for photographing pets in 2000 while studying animal behavior at the University of Washington and working part-time as a dogwalker and petsitter. Three years later in July of 2003, Jamie turned her hobby into a business and established the popular Cowbelly Pet Photography brand.

The combination of Jamie’s animal behavior degree and her many years of experience working with dogs and cats in various capacities enables her to get the fun, candid, highly expressive shots she is known for.
