Getting Organized 101

Nickel rimmed magnifing glass 150x150 Getting Organized 101 picturesAfter numerous attempts at “getting organized” with all the tremendous photography you submit on a daily basis, I think I’ve come up with a solution! For the past year, one of the nagging issues I’ve had with ILovePhotoblogs was how best to showcase the photography sites and blogs to our new visitors each day. While I appreciate all my loyal readers, the truth is that new/first time visitors account for 85% of all our daily traffic!

Our solution…the ILovePhotoblogs Custom Search powered by Google. The search tool has been tuned to only search for posts from our site and photography blogs we’ve mentioned. I’ve been playing around with the WordPress template and the Google code and know you will love using this search feature. For your convenience, I’ve added the “Search” to the top menu. So, please, give our new search tool a try and let me know what you think.

Not Just Another Search Tool

Search is an essential feature for all websites, allowing users to quickly find relevant topics or subject matter. One of the main issues I have struggled with while producing this photo blog has been determining the best way to capture and file all the talent in a logical manner.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve been going over the postings from the past year, capturing each photographer ever featured on this site along with their related web addresses in an attempt to organize this chaos. The result is a newly implemented search tool, which not only searches my entire site, but also, every site submitted to us. [At the time of this writing, I have only indexed about 40% of the photography blogs submitted to us. If you have been featured on our site and do not currently appear in the search results, please check back frequently for updates.]

Kinda looks like every other search bar…Yes, I agree the search tool does look…plain and ordinary…and the results appear to look like any other Google search page. However, our photography search tool allow viewers to search through only our pages and those of featured photographers from our site. Make sense? For example, if you searched for San Francisco + restaurant….you end up with all sorts of interesting articles from one of our featured photographers…SFPhotorama. There are currently over 1200 photographers and websites indexed on this tool.

Try it out…Give us a test drive! Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. While I am working on the remainder of photography sites, I would like to know if I’m headed in the right direction.

What is the DEMAND ATTENTION promotion all about?

  • You should know that the number one reason most people visit photography blog websites is to view photo blogs. This means that if you want traffic to your website, you need to promote your website on a niche specific site. ILovePhotoblogs.com has quickly become a leader in photo blog reviews. In an effort to allow all photographers a way to participate in our explosive success, today we’ve introduced a cost effective way for website promotion.

What does this promotion consist of? A simple 3-step process is all that’s needed to start your DEMAND ATTENTION promotion today!

  • Step 1 – Using our webform, include your website URL and a short descriptive paragraph about your photography and/or you.
  • Step 2 – Spell check your submission and be sure to include the URL of the picture you wish to run with your promotion. The approximate size of the displayed image will be 300px (maximum width). If you do not include an image URL, we will review your site and select what we feel is most appropriate.
  • Step 3 – Make payment using our PayPal checkout
  • Here’s an example of what you can expect…Chris Bickford Photography

How much does it really cost?

How long will this promotional price last?

  • At this time, we really don’t know. But it’s a good guess, it won’t last forever. Sign up today!

Are there any restrictions? Of course there are some restrictions, but our rules are pretty straightforward. See list below:

  • Only photography related sites will be considered for publication. Since we are trying to build our search engine rankings (from which your photo blog promotion will directly benefit), linking to off topic content benefits no one. Our focus with this promotion is aimed at the market we serve..photography, photographers(street, wedding, portrait, sports, baby/newborn, etc.), and related content.
  • Every attempt will be made to publish your promotion with 7 days.
  • All promotions submitted will be reviewed for appropriate subject matter.
  • No pornography, please.
  • Ads will be displayed for a minimum of 6 months. Since my specialty is photography and not fortune-telling, I will only guarantee your promotion up to a period of 6 months. If, for any reason, your promotion is cut short, simply write us for a full refund.

Twitter Search is awesome

twitter search Twitter Search is awesome pictures…probably the last person in the world to discover Twitter Search, but I must say this application is amazing. I was never really a big fan of Twitter, since I never understood the culture. However, in my quest to find fresh photography blogs on a daily basis this may just be the answer to my prayers. Not only is Twitter Search extremely fast, but the search plugin migrates to your browser the instant you click “Install the search plugin in your browser”. Can’t speak for all browsers, but it was a snap with Firefox. No restarts, just “Bam”. Ok, I revealed too much about my ineptitude for staying on top of technology…now, back to searching with my new friend…Heck, I might even blow the dust off my own account.
