Raised by an American mother and Austrian father, David grew up in an international environment which began to shape his curiosity about different cultures. He studied at the University of Virginia from 1995 to 1999 where he completed two bachelor degrees in economics and anthropology. David uses the camera to communicate his observations of the world. Having studied at the Danish School of Photojournalism in Aarhus, Denmark, worked for commercial photographers, and interned at the photo agency VII, David enjoys mixing photographic styles depending on the subject matter.

“I’m an American photographer based in Paris, France. I shoot a variety of subject matters and one of my favorite things to photograph is street life in Paris. I’ve taken my personal projects to another level and actually photograph couples from all around the world using the same techniques of capturing special moments against the backdrop of the many amazing Parisian monuments. The blog url is the link dedicated to my wedding photography in Paris. Feel free to have a glance at my main site www.davidbacher.com for other examples of my work. “

“A vision in black and white of the city of Paris and its citizens, and sometimes from elsewhere in France . I do not particularly want to tell stories . I like when the image allows you your own story . I try to be has near as possible to this idea . I try to photograph as much as possible in the sense of this idea.

That said, I have nothing against the telling of stories. This will probably happen to me according to visual events that I will do during the rest of my life. (I’m 45 and I practice photography seriously only in recent years, approximately 5 years). I do not like the idea of gray in photography, I really prefer the hard contrasts, sometimes even violent … but you never know!

PS: I’m French … and my English is perhaps a bit basic, sorry about that!”

Urban Photography by Simon Laveuve

“Born 1988. Lives and works in Paris. Although Simon Laveuve aka « streetsking » is still young, his work already shows a lot of maturity. A very productive and gifted artist, he’s a photographer as instinctive as rigorous in his settings. His sense of detail and the most peculiar attention he displays to his characters, in their environment, make his photos disturbing but emotional pieces of art. Using the white and black, his passion for silver film redefine a new dimension to the urban and contemporary photography.”

Paris Street Photography Blog | I Still Shoot Film
“When I shoot people in the street, I somehow feel like they belong to me when I look at my photographs afterward. I have complex mental relationships with people who probably don’t even know I exist, just because I photographed them and that makes them mine. I don’t see the same things when I look through the lens… which is why I like to shoot anything and everything.”

“I am originally from the United States but I have been living in Paris for the last 6 years. The French make me laugh, they are so complicated yet endearing. I am a professional photographer and I have been shooting film since I was 10 years old, but what I love about Tumblr is being able to post the “non-book” shots.”

Eye Saw It | Paris

Thank you for visiting my photoblog ! Photography is my passion and has been so for quite a few years. I try to shoot as soon as I get a good oportunity ! Many are my walks around Paris where I live, I love to bring my camera wherever I go. Some of those shots end up here. You will notice that there is no chronological order or a special theme – it all depends on my mood for the moment. Most of the time I use complete manual settings, I also do some post treatment with Photoshop from time to time…eye saw it
