Chris Nicholls Photography – Lighting Made Perfect

chris nicholls 0834 214x300 Chris Nicholls Photography Lighting Made Perfect picturesLighting is perhaps one of the most underrated aspects of photography. To quote George Eastman, founder of the Eastman Kodak Company, “…light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.” Fashion and advertising photographer Chris Nicholls displays a tremendous command of effective lighting techniques..regardless of the setting, Chris skillfully controls his lighting sources for dramatic effects and to bring out the beauty in each model he photographs.

Born in England and raised in Canada, Chris Nicholls has emerged as one of the most sought after fashion photographers. Splitting his time between New York and Toronto, his work appears in many magazines including Elle, Flare, Fashion, Wish, Scene and Essence. His advertising clients include M.A.C. Cosmetics, La Senza Lingerie, Lord & Taylor, The New York City Ballet, Birks/Mayors, Clairol, Harry Rosen, Holt Renfrew, Lida Baday, Alfred Sung, and Badgley Mischka.

New York City Photographer – Ben Mostyn – May 09, 2008

Welcome to the newest member of our community, New York City photographer and blogger, Ben Mostyn. I enjoy all U.S. cities, but I have to admit there is something special and electric about visiting New York City. The Ben Mostyn photoblog is an interesting read with great images. Here is a excerpt from one of his recent postings.

On the weekend we went down to Coney Island, the ‘beachfront’ of Brooklyn. I was talking with my friend and we realised we hadn’t been outside of the 5 square miles of central NY for about 4 months, and we were both going stir crazy. So off we went in search of scenery that consisted of something other than avenues, streets, and drunk men being beaten up by police. There seemed to be some kind of ‘Truman Show’-style conspiracy to stop us from leaving, as the various subway stations near us were either shut or re-routed etc.

New York City Fashion Photography – Michael David Adams – May 08, 2008

New York City fashion photography at it’s best – Michael David Adams – our newest community member.

Michael is a natural born artist.   He began painting at a young age and as he and his art grew he realized that photography was the medium in which he would share his vision with the world.   Through his photography, he creates images that transcend the sum of their elements, and make a lasting impression on all who view them.

With Michael’s natural eye for composition, artistic ability to elicit emotions, and command of light, his work has been described as "aggressive, yet sensual and vulnerable" and "captivating".   His ability to understand clients needs and convey them in a way that exceeds expectation is ensuring his reputation as a photographer in demand.

Karlo.org, New York City based photographer – April 19, 2008

Welcome to our newest photography member who resides in New York City, Karlo.org. His work covers a great deal of ground within the field of photography. I am especially found the his travel photography. Great color and composition. Here is a little bit about the photographer:

I was about 5 or 6 when my grandfather gave me my first camera, a Nikon EM manual focus SLR. Digital has brought me back into the fold by changing the whole equation of time, experimentation and flexibility. I’ve been using digital cameras since 1994, but I didn’t go 100% digital until a few years ago.

Take a few moments to view this wonderful site. Karlo.org has a great collection of black and white as well as color images.
