My name is Jennifer and I live in New England with my camera and my cat. That’s it, just them. Well, not really…there’s my family too. I have always had an interest in photography and a desire to learn more about it. I’ve been taking photos for as long as I can remember. It all began in my early teens when I got my first camera – a 35mm LeClic camera in purple (of course!). I spent a few years LeClic-ing my way through our family events and fun times with friends and I’ve still got albums full of photos I’ve taken over the years (many of which have the infamous thumb in the corners that comes from not holding the camera properly). In high school I elected to take a photography course and was so thrilled that I would finally learn how to take nicer, more professional photos and learn how to develop my own film (remember film? haha boy am I old
But that excitement quickly ceased when the teacher died (yup. as in DEAD.) a few weeks into the semester and we then had a substitute for the remainder of the year who knew nothing about photography. I never really went any further to educate myself about it.
Over the years I’ve upgraded cameras several times and have continued taking photos of anything and everything (I’m known for my wacky pictures and my full-face, close-up self portraits). It’s only been during the past two years that I started looking at photography in a different way. I started taking my camera and going out on mini ‘photo shoots’ to capture the seasonal changes up here in the North. My first shoot was taking photos of the Fall foliage at a nearby park. That sparked something in me to get more serious about photography.
Last spring I joined the ranks of the 9.7% of people who are unemployed when I was laid off from my job at a big-mega-corporate-monopoly bank (of opportunity). I will say no more. So, fast forward to summer and I came across a few fantastic photography websites (which you will find links to in the sidebar). I had never seen photos THAT GOOD. That was it for me. I decided right then that photography is my future. The photos on those websites inspired me to finally go out and purchase a professional camera and make photography my next (and last) career. I’ve suddenly found myself with a lot of free time on my hands and figured there is no better opportunity to practice and learn the basics of photography! I’ve already seen such a difference in the photos I am taking and I hope to continue to improve every day. I have created this website to share my work with you all and to have my journey documented so I can look back some day and see how far I’ve come. I hope you enjoy what you see!…a bella sorriso
