Even though I don’t have an iPhone (actually have a HTC Droid 1st gen) , I am starting to warm up to the idea of cellphone photography. I find myself always with my cellphone and sometimes with my camera. Just seems to make sense that I learn get the most out of the camera with….which is a perfect lead in to my recent book purchase this past weekend, The Best Camera Is The One That’s With You: iPhone Photography by Chase Jarvis.
I featured the Chase Jarvis photo blog a few months ago. I love the energy of his photo shoots. Everyone seems to be having a great time during the sessions. And the photos; incredible!
So in seeing this book on the shelf, by a photographer whose work I greatly admire, I just had to pick it up. Great photos!
This book is not a “how-to” instructional manual on using your iPhone to produce award-winning photos. Rather, this book is a collection of awesome images taken by Chase with his cellphone and proof that the only prerequisite for fine photography is a photographer’s skill and creativity, not the equipment.
IPhoneography has stamped its place on the photography landscape…in a nutshell, mobile photography with connectivity. Although iPhone photography has garnered plenty of attention lately, look for a growing number of camera manufacturers to incorporate Internet connectivity into their newer offerings. Bundled photo editing software packages built into point and shoot cameras with instant sharing capabilities will be the norm, rather than the exception, in the not so distant future.

As I prepare for yet another severe snow storm (expecting 24 inches), I figure now is a great opportunity to address some the photography sites that have been sitting in my inbox. While I do the best I can to keep the photo blogs flowing, the truth of the matter is, since December we’ve been swamped with submissions. Don’t get me wrong, we have a great problem. Jordi V. Pou (1968-Lleida-Spain) works as a professional photographer since the 90`s. His personal work have been awarded many prizes and exposed widely in Spain. He likes to take photographs with a poetic feeling, and in the last years some poets asked him to collaborate in books and readings. One of his actual projects is named Kokovoko.info and runs in the form of a photoblog. All the photographs are done with a mobile telephone low quality automatic camera, which leaves the photographer free of technical decisions. Then the moment and the subject get all the photographers attention, allowing him to be ready just when the decisive moment shows.
