EYEʼEM ANNOUNCES MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION IN NEW YORK

August 12, 2010 – EYEʼEM (www.eyeem.com), an online platform dedicated to photography with mobile phones, has announced their second exhibition at New Yorkʼs OPENHOUSE Gallery in September 2010. The exhibition creates awareness for mobile photography as a rapidly growing form of contemporary art. EYEʼEM is a hub exclusively dedicated to mobile photography. Creative minds from all over the world unite to share their images and create an unique stream of mutual inspiration and creative expression. The best shots get exhibited in pop-up galleries around the world. EYE’EM is proud to announce their 2nd Mobile Photography Exhibition in 2010. The event will be hosted at the renowned OPENHOUSE gallery in New York City starting on September 27th 2010.

THE EXHIBITION
The exhibition features prints of the top photos submitted by mobile photographers from all over the world. The online platform is open for submission until September 10th, 2010. At OPENHOUSE gallery, EYEʼEM links the online and offline worlds through real-time interaction between the location, its visitors and the international mobile photography movement. The online platform will stand in live interaction with the gallery, allowing mobile photographerʼs around the world to exhibit their work, just an instant after they took the image. The top EYEʼEM submissions will be professionally processed and printed using high quality materials as alloy and acrylic glass. Furthermore, digital screens, interactive slide shows and various installations will display single photos, artist profiles and relevant photo streams. Part of the downtown New York gallery will be turned into a lounge where visitors can relax and watch the live digital slide shows.

THE MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY MOVEMENT
EYEʼEM looks at a new generation of photographers, who are willing to share their perspective. They are dynamic, constantly moving and always ready to shoot. The mobile photography movement is a rapidly growing scene that makes use of their phones to create a unique style of photography. Itʼs about impulsiveness, spontaneous creativity and global interactivity. They document the world as they see it, leverage the flexibility of mobile phone cameras and share it with others for mutual inspiration.

ABOUT EYE’EM
EYEʼEM is the first online hub for mobile phone photography. It was founded by a group of young Berlin-based creatives in January 2010. It regularly publishes interviews with talented mobile photographers, insights into the scene and its origins and inspirations. (blog.eyeem.com) The first EYE’EM AWARD, launched in March 2010, received more than 3000 submissions from all over the world. The winning images were exhibited at Schlechtriem Brothers Gallery in Berlin.
