My name is Robert Voltaire and I am a photographer based out of Los Angeles, CA. I am very fortunate to make my living as a professional fashion photographer. Over the years I have listened to other photographers and models talk about their successes (and failures) and how they got ahead in this business.

All my life I have been inspired by images in movies, art, literature and magazines.

I discovered photography accidentally. A few years ago I received a camera as a Christmas gift. It sat in the box until my birthday when I celebrated with some friends and family at the beach. One friend wanted to become a model and I shot a roll of film and handed it to her. A week later she was picked up by Ford and I was approached by an agent to test models.

My work has been published by magazines worldwide including: GQ, Esquire, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Max, Playboy and others.

People email me daily asking questions on how to succeed or how to make money as a photographer or model or to help them along with their craft. So, I set this blog up to help you do just that!

Through the Lens | Photographer Krasimir Ganchev

“I began to photograph just for fun year ago probably because it was the only way to create something artistic, as I have always been fascinated by painting. But as I am not good in drawing, now I am living for this wonderful passion, which day by day gives me satisfactions and self confidence on my creative abilities. Even if I do not always have a fixed style in my mind, I like to begin every new photo with an open mind, trying every time different expressions, from portraits to landscape, mixing everything trying not to be boring.

I am fascinated by lights and shadows and I like playing with them. Every time I try to find a meaning to the shot, incorporationg my vision and ideas.

For me, photography entails a voyage of discovery. When I look through the viewfinder, I can put the world in a framework and make it according to my feelings. That’s the world I photograph.”

Sweden fashion photographer Henrik Halvarsson

Miss Aniela Photography – Adventures in Self-Portraiture

miss aniela 259x300 Miss Aniela Photography Adventures in Self Portraiture picturesMiss Aniela is a fine-art photographer based in South East UK. Miss Aniela independently models for, directs, photographs and digitally processes her own images.

“I have always been creative, but since digital photography became my favourite mode of self-expression, I have stopped writing regularly in my diary. My images have become their own autobiography.

“All I need for a self portrait is one spark of inspiration: a beam of light, an interesting garment, a few appealing kinks in my hair after it’s been in bunches. I might spy myself in the mirror across the room and have a voyeuristic urge to capture myself on camera, to produce a movie-still from a movie that never existed. It’s more than being a convenient model; it is the fascination with being able to become part of a different mise-en-scéne every time, placing lips and limbs and locks within the frame which all belong to me, and yet with manipulation, become almost those of someone else, a higher self, a multiplicity of different ‘selves’.”"
