Dane Deasy is a graduate of Columbia College with a B.F.A. in Photography. He currently lives in Chicago, IL. His passions in life include (but are not limited to) Photography (duh), Music, Literature, Art, and his friends and family.
In the field of Photography, Dane’s main areas of expertise and interest include Fashion, Portraiture, Weddings, and Landscape.

This photoblog began on May 3, 2005 as a place to post photos from my developing hobby. I have posted a photo here every day since then. Prior to this blog I had a photo-a-week on a different website. The name of the site came from a conversation with my girlfriend fiance wife. I don’t remember the conversation exactly but it had something to do with entropy. Interesting, right? Photoentropy is run on Movable Type 3.36 with some customizations and plugins. I’ve tried out other content management systems but have never made the switch. I really love Movable Type even though it has some limitations, and at this point there would be so much content to move over that it isn’t worth it.
I began in Minnesota in the early 1980s. Now I live in the Chicago area. I travel back to Minnesota at least once a year. I often go see family in Arizona as well.

The FROM THE POCKET project features the iPhone Photography (iphoneography) of Chicago-based amateur photographer, Jeremy R. Edwards. All of the images featured on this site were created using Apple’s first-generation iPhone and Apple’s iPhone 3Gs cameras. Images were edited and processed using various iPhone photography applications only. The project is described as a tri-hybrid of genres: ordinary, intimate, and street.

I’m Brian Humek, a native of Park Forest, Illinois (a suburb south of Chicago). I’ve been shooting people, places and things since I received my first Kodak Instamatic camera many years ago. I began taking photography more seriously when I was given a used Mamiya DTL 1000 in high school. In 1998 I began visiting ranches in the Texas panhandle and documented life on the working ranches in and around the small ranching community of Clarendon, Texas. That time spent chronicling cowboy life resulted in the exhibit Western Traditions: Cowboys, Cattle and Clarendon. The photos were shot with the simplicity of manual film cameras such as the Pentax K1000 and the Mamiya DTL 1000.
In 2008 I bought my first digital camera, a Nikon D-80. I now spend much more time shooting people, places and things.
My images have been featured in American Cowboy Magazine, the Vernon Daily Record, The Financial Times, Forbes.com the Stockyards Gazette and various textbooks and other publications.

While working on my next project, the photo blogs have started to pile up a bit. No disrespect was meant to the many talented photographers which took the time to submit their photoblogs! Please continue to submit your awesome photo sites, and I promise to do a better job of posting more frequently. Recently, I have actually taking a little time out from my schedule to make use of my own camera equipment…always forgot what it felt like to have one in my hands.
A special thank you to all the Twitter followers out there. It is amazing how much traffic one story can get through this media source!

Welcome to the “20 Awesome Photography Blogs” project and our latest installment featuring the great city of Chicago. When I first started this project, my initial photoblog concern was whether or not I would be able to find enough to round out the “20″. But actually I have encountered just the opposite dilemma of having too many a photo blog to choose from. A good problem to have!
Today’s photo blog selections feature a beautiful collection of street photography (my favorite), architectural, wildlife, and few others which I’m not quite sure what category they would fall into. I’ve always wanted to travel to Chicago, and this installment only adds more fuel to my fire to get there.
