Nightlife Photographer – Steven Vigar

Under the luminous and radiant spotlight casted by Steven Vigar’s lens is where everyone who is anyone in Taiwan is trying desperately to be. Currently based out of Taipei, photographer Steven Vigar hails from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where he studied photography at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He’s since worked as photo editor for The Nugget and is a regular contributor for the Firstlight Associated Photographers. Since his relocation to Asia, he has taken Taiwan by storm and the name Steven Vigar has unarguably become Taiwan’s most illustrious name in photography.

Vigar’s most recent work can frequently be found in the Taipei Times, Adbusters, JPG, Taiwan Photographers and Waakao, where he won best photographer in 2009. Though he paved his road to fame by specializing in documentary, travel, and portraiture, his work extends to freelance publications and more recently his event photography has redefined a fresh more contemporary and experimental style and resulted in his being branded as Taiwan’s most sought after event photographer. Vigar’s unique eye has become a staple at urban parties, events, nightclubs, galleries, concerts, festivals, high fashion photo shoots, and beyond.

Sean’s first camera was a No. 2 Brownie given to him at age five by his grandmother. This was a mistake as the film and processing costs resulting from his new obsession nearly drove her into bankruptcy over the next two years. Thirty-six years later, Sean still owns his first camera along with a large collection of antique film cameras and 35mm SLRs.

He pursued other interests during his teenage and early adult years becoming a chef, computer technician, technical author, and technical trainer along the way, but the interest in image-making remained. The advent of digital photography turned the interest back into an obsession, and Sean thinks of little else besides looking through a viewfinder these days (as his wife will tell you).

Sean specializes in fine art and landscape photography, and can be found wandering around the vicinity of Kirriemuir, Alberta, Canada. He is a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and a member of the Canadian Association for Photographic Art. >>> read more about Neutral Hills Stills

1 Love London | Scott Webb | London Ontario

1 Love London is about showing all aspects of London, Ontario in a creative form through this Photoblog.
I want this to become a good way for Londoners, as well as potential visitors, to be able to come network, share, and check out the city from a different perspective and share their love for London. Currently the only perspective is mine; however, I do plan to generate enough interest that I can extend the site into contributions from others. The sharing comes in the form of linking out, comments, adding photos to the flickr group. I know this will all evolve once it gets moving.

My name is Scott Webb and I was born and raised here in London, Ontario.

I used to feel that London Ontario sucked. I thought that it had nothing exciting, nothing interesting, and nothing important. That was until I picked up a camera. The camera, more specificly the DSLR, has allowed me to explore the City of London and capture what it has to offer.

So what is Windsor Visuals? You could call it a blog, or a micro-news website. You could call it a community. I like to think that it’s an thoroughfare for expressing what Windsor is to all of us. Windsor is our home. Windsor is our city, regardless of flaws, disputes, disconnection or economic depression. What we have here is a city that is often overlooked or disregarded for its placement south of Toronto, or “south of the importance” in Ontario, a city scorned for its attitudes on the world stage, or referenced as a place to call home that’s not as friendly as ‘the one around the corner’.

Windsor Visuals is a daily photoblog devoted to news, events, politics, history, civic life, and just about anything photographic you can think of.
