Christopher Wray-McCann Photography

004 300x199 Christopher Wray McCann Photography picturesChristopher Wray-McCann began making photographs at the age of 16 while attending the Interlochen Arts Academy in the north woods of Michigan.   In the years since,   he has gone around the world several times, photographing musicians, celebrities, corporate executives, athletes, criminals and artists in over 30 countries.

His images have appeared in such diverse publications as Vogue, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Spin, Variety, Conde Nast Traveler, GQ and Esquire to name a few.

Wray-McCann compares photography to cooking, believing that the essence of both depends on bringing together the best ingredients.

Northern California Photographer, Diane Varner – May 18, 2008

Welcome to the newest member of our photoblog community, Diane Varner.

Photography by Diane Varner

“What was once a casual past-time with my beloved dog, Boomer, is now a healthy, daily obsession. Almost every morning I can be found hiking the coastline and mountain trails, taking photos of the beautiful Northern California terrain.

My daily walks often take me on paths that lead to other worlds… mystical ones… where quietness, oneness and a sense of peace prevail. I’ve discovered that while paying attention to the small but miraculous details of nature, one can actually tap into the beauty and expansiveness that exists within each of us….read more about photographer Diane Varner.”

California based photographer, G Dan Mitchell – April 17, 2008

Very few photographers are able to create masterful photography across such a cross section of subject matter as G Dan Mitchell . The  G Dan Mitchell photoblog is updated daily and showcases beautifully crafted images. I particularly like the poster-style border placed around each image.

Like many photographers showcased in our community, Dan Mitchell get his start in the world of photography at an early age:

I started doing photography at a pretty young age. I can’t tell you what year, but I’m sure it was in elementary school. My father was a professor of instructional technology and a talented amateur photographer. He had camera gear (including a big old Graflex) and a darkroom he would set up in the bathroom. He taught me to print black and white and he gave me good advice – that I probably didn’t appreciate nearly enough at the time. For example, he always told me to step closer to my subject. What he was really suggesting was that I had to think beyond how cool my subject seemed to me, and to visualize what it would ultimately look like as a print.

In high school I shot a lot of black and white, developing the film myself and printing at home or (better yet) using the equipment at school.

If you like stunning landscapes, eye-popping urban & industrial images, peak moment sports pics, than you must check out the G Dan Mitchell photoblog!

Beyond the Tundra, Elizabeth Carmel, Benny Martini – April 03, 2008

Today I have (6) new photoblog entries for April 03, 2008. The photographic works of these selected photographers range from landscape to urban scenes. The new photoblogs are as follows:

  • Beyond the Tundra -”For 7 years, I’ve photographed my experiences of the world – especially my friends and family, my travels, and the people I encounter along the way. This photo blog is about perspectives. It is both about life in midwest, and a midwesterner’s experience of the world. Some of my photos are art, some try to literally depict the reality of my surroundings; but all are meant to give a sense of the perspective through which I see my surroundings.”
  • Elizabeth Carmel’s Photoblog – “Elizabeth Carmel is a California based photographer specializing in unique, expressive landscapes and “waterscapes”. Using a Hasselblad H3D with an ultra-high resolution 39 megapixel digital back, she is able to capture the subtle details of the natural world and transfer them to large prints with stunning clarity and color.”
  • Pinx Photoblog -”…..It’s my excuse for going out on a regular basis and take photos of all kinds of stuff.”
  • m.y.photoblog -”Quite simply this is my photoblog. The pictures I like usually get to be here. They used to mostly come from Africa, now though (as of July 2007), due to a change in workplace they will be mostly from Russia.”
  • Benny Martini Photoblog -Vivid colors, sharp details, interesting compositions, great use of shadow and light…….
  • Photoblog:Diya -”remember taking pictures for quite some years. The analog photography never took over; somehow I never got into it as much as I got into with the digital photography. With the digital I can play much more around and I surprised myself already some times. My interest in taking pictures is to capture emotions or at least create some.”

Prague photographer, Northern Japan art, California travel photos – March 16, 2008

Today, I have (7) new additions to the list. It is interesting to see how many photographers actually post on a daily basis. • Girl Inchoate – Photoblog – “I first began writing online journals in 1994. In 2001, I found xanga.com and began a blog. At first, my writings were intermittent. I wasn’t sure about people reading what I had to write. Then I was worried about people I knew reading what I was writing. I eventually created two other private blogs to write about the more private sides of myself in like-minded communities or for one other person.”
  • Kitakami Photoblogt Prague photographer, Northern Japan art, California travel photos March 16, 2008 pictures – “Daily photos from Kitakami, a small town in Northern Japan, and its surroundings.”
