Kevin Heslin is a photographer originally from the Boston area who has been living in Costa Rica for the past seven years.  Besides commercial and wedding photography, Kevin specializes in travel and cultural portraits.

“I try to set up projects where I trek out to the middle of nowhere and am able to photograph families who live in these remote areas.  There is something about these portraits that I find very noble and timeless.  Families that live so far off the beaten path have such an affectionate way of interacting that I feel really privileged to be able to capture these candid moments.  Recently, I hiked into a very remote village in the mountains of Costa Rica, as there are no roads, and trails are fit for horses and mules only part of the year.

Families in this region are for the most part self-sufficient, as they often get cut off from the rest of the world in the rainy season.  The people I met there truly lived the Pura Vida lifestyle, and didn’t seem miss anything not found in the surrounding cloud forest.”
