“A huge outback dust storm – 500 km (310 mi) wide by 1,000 km (620 mi) long – swept across eastern Australia and blanketed Sydney on Wednesday, September 23rd, disrupting flights and ground transportation and forcing people indoors for shelter from the hazardous air, gale-force winds, and in some places hailstorms. Those few who ventured outside, especially at dawn, were greeted by a Martian sky, familiar landmarks blotted out by the heavy red dust blowing by.” <via The Big Picture>

Lazy Sunday Morning Photo Blogs

multitask Lazy Sunday Morning Photo Blogs picturesJust relaxing this Sunday morning, sipping coffee, and reviewing a few cool photo blogs I’d bookmarked earlier in the week…

Cemetery Photography by Jeane Trend-Hill…”the number one cemetery photography site on the web.”

MONTMARTRE - “… is my photography playground. I live in Sydney, Australia and am generally never without camera in hand. Montmartre is a small town on a hill in Paris. It is a corner of creative artistry and for me signifies what I want this site to be. Freedom, expression, hope, love, stories told through pictures. Pictures are nice to look at, stories come from the soul.”..Interesting collection of food photography and general still life photos…Nice use of available light!

Effluere by LTallman – “…a 28-year-old self-taught photographer living in New York City. I use a variety of cameras, lenses and digital manipulation to best capture a place and time in image form. These collections of photographs represent my favorite subjects to photograph.” Beautiful collection of photography; fauna, landscapes, city life, new york city, and portraits!

Stephen Gibson Photography | Discovering Australia

cannonvale coral ny dsc2097 Stephen Gibson Photography | Discovering Australia picturesThe travel photoblog by Stephen Gibson, takes us on a photographic journey discovering Australia. There are many beautiful images in this collection, ranging from aquatic life macro photography to cityscapes and street photography.

I had the opportunity to travel to Australia several years back while on assignment, mainly in Woomera and Adelaide…and it must say, this is one destination that should be on everyone’s list for photography destinations or just to vacation..a lot of wide open spaces..Australia is about 80% the size of the United States, with less than 10% of its population!…2.6 people per square mile vs. 80 people per sq mi. in the US.

This blog is a long term project for Gibson, who states…“photoblog of my continuing travels around Australia, a few of the interesting things I’ve seen on my journey so far..”

Adelaide Australia Photographer | Luan Huynh

luan huynh photography 300x272 Adelaide Australia Photographer | Luan Huynh pictures“This site documents my attempts at taking photos. It enables me to share some of my better images that would have otherwise stayed hidden away in my computer. The subjects are anything of interest at places I’ve visited – people, landscapes, streetscapes, flora and fauna.

I’m a doctor by profession, looking after people with sick hearts, and a sometimes amatuer photographer, so my images vary widely in their colour, composition, processing, and quality.”

Australia Nature Photography David Webb – May 24, 2008

A warm welcome goes out to the newest photoblog in our community, David Webb’s “Images of Nature” Photography Gallery. Using a nice mix of daily life writing and beauty photography, David Webb has done a wonderful job with this site. I am particularly fond of the lightning photographs!

I’ve been interested in photography ever since we got our first digital camera. At that time, it didn’t even have a colour screen, and took photos at 320×240 pixels. Since then, we’ve got a better camera, and learned some tricks of photography, so I started up this blog site. The camera I used for most of these photos before Sep. 07 is a Kodak C330 4.2 MP camera with 3x optical zoom. More recently, I bought a Fujifilm S9600 with 9MP CCD and 10.7x optical zoom. This is a great camera for those who don’t want to upgrade to an SLR yet but want the advanced functionality that an SLR provides.
