Phoenix Wedding Photographer – Julie Branyan

“As a photographer, I am constantly striving to capture love. Genuine emotion; genuine connection — that’s what I hope you’ll see in my pictures. Let me tell you what love means to me. It is the moment I wake up to find my husband, Josh, next to me; it’s when we laugh for hours about nothing. It’s the freedom Josh gives me to be me: the goofy one who dances to the dishwasher, sings the wrong lyrics to songs on the radio, spills food on myself and leaves half-full (always half-full… never half-empty!) glasses of water throughout the house. Josh says it drives him mad (just like his silly Chandler Bing comments sometimes make me crazy), but I know deep down he loves it! Every day I know I am blessed to have experienced this amount of love.

I recently moved to Phoenix, AZ from Omaha, NE to follow my dream of being a full time photographer and to be closer to family. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but the best ones never are.”

Hot Wedding Photographers – Phoenix Arizona

Hot Wedding Photographers from Phoenix, Arizona.  After a short hiatus from this project, we are proud to present the sixth installment of our Hot Wedding Photographers feature, originally started in Houston, Texas. The project highlights 10 Wedding Photographers from randomly selected cities around the world which show exceptional creativity/originality and have a great web design I feel is a cut above the rest.

As always, I start by acknowledging I probably left several awesome wedding photographers off the list, so here’s your chance to let me know which ones also merit consideration. Kindly leave your suggestions or comments at the end of this post.

I meant to do that!

Make no mistake, my work is unique! I have a style of my own and it is somewhat uncoventional. My clients are usually looking for something fresh, stylish and more contemporary than what many “traditional” photographers offer.

That being said, there are some things you may notice when looking at my work that is different from what you might be accustomed to…

“Tight Crops” – This means super close close-ups where often the face fills most of the frame of the image. These images are about the eyes, and often the top of the head is not included in the image. I meant to do that!

“Not-So-Smiley”- So many of us have been brought up to believe that a smile is a requirement to make a great photo. So not true! I love a pensive look as much as a big grin. I meant to do that!

“Let’s Be Negative” – Negative space is when the subject is placed off to the side of an image and the rest of the image is empty—this is done for artistic impact. I meant to do that!

“Left of Center”- The most boring position for a subject in a photograph is smack dab in the middle! I know, I know, not what you always thought, right? Trust me! There is a little something in design called the Rule of Thirds that we photographers often employ to enhance visual interest…leah simmers photography

Driveby Shooting Photoblog, Gila Bend Arizona – April 29, 2008

Driveby Shooting Photoblog is our featured photoblog of the day. Beautiful scenery from the state of Arizona.

The title of this blog, "Driveby Shooting" was chosen because I take many of my photos while in my car. My camera is found in my lap while driving. Most of the photos in this blog are of rural America. The more remote the more interesting for beauty can be found everywhere.
