  • Web developmentNettuts+ is an excellent resource for web developers and designers, offering tutorials and articles on technology, skills and techniques to improve how you design and build websites. Even though some of the topics covered on this site may be a bit advanced for many bloggers, the tutorials are broken down in easy to follow steps. I love photo blogs…<you knew that>…but I also love to check out graphic design and web development sites to learn tips and tricks on how to make my own photo blog better. Over time I have collected hundreds of great sites for future reference. There’s nothing that motivates more than examples of great ideas and techniques. As a photographer, I can’t see enough photo blogs, but also understand that there’s more to a great photo blog than just awesome photos..writing skills, header design, sidebar layout technique, or even how to create a catchy headline can be equally important. I’ve put together a list of a few of my favorite sites/articles which every photo blog creator should visit. Inspiration comes in all shapes and sizes, which is why the most successful bloggers subscribe to numerous blogs.

  • 10,000 words – great site about journalism and the state of multimedia today. love his writing style and his posts are always interesting
  • Huge Compilation of WordPress Code - great source of WordPress hacks to customize display on your blog
  • Random.org – if you ever want to hold a contest, this is a great source for selecting winners. many other great uses as well
  • Instant Domain Search – quickly search for available domain names
  • Browsershots.org – if you use a lot of pictures or graphics, hack your template on a regular basis, or do anything outside the norm with your posts or template, it is important to verify how your visitors view your blog. this is a great site for testing how your content is displayed on variety of browser platforms. after you enter your url, BrowserShots creates thumbnails for each browser selected. there is a bit of a delay while the site generates your requested content, so be patient. pretty cool.
  • Just Creative Design – is a terrific site with great content for getting exposure for your site, creating great logos (basically anything graphics design related you’ll find here), and awesome writing tips.
