Nikon has done it to me, again! While on a mini-vacation this weekend, I bumped into to a photographer using the Nikon D3. Since it was released last August, this was the first time I actually had the opportunity to put my hands on one. So it’s official, I have fallen in love with the Nikon D3.
Yes, the caveman in me won’t let me part with my beloved Nikon F3 and this will always be as long as film is still readily available, but I have my eye on the new D3. What’s not to like? Finally, a digital SLR that gives you full frame capability! With all the great features which also include 11 frames per second (without auto-focusing tracking), 9 frames per second (with auto-focusing tracking), 12.1 megapixel full frame sensor, environmental engineering that includes sealed buttons, and much more, what’s not to like?
Well, perhaps the only downside of this photographic engineering marvel would be the sticker shock. Now granted, this high powered top flight professional camera is not for everyone, but the $5000 manufacturer suggested retail price is enough for me to put this purchase off for awhile. The $5k price tag has not discouraged my plans of acquiring the Nikon D3 gem, only delayed them.
The Nikon D3 has received rave reviews from prosumers and professionals alike for it’s fine craftsmanship, ease of use, durability, and overall quality. For more information, see the Nikon D3 Review.
