Kyoto Japan From the Eyes of French Photographer Antoine Leblond

“Hello, my name is Antoine Leblond, I’m a french photographer currently living in Kyoto, Japan. I think I can say that my photography theme is the Cold War, old buildings and façades, used objects and electric machines, and especially trains. Most of the time, I try to avoid any human presence in my photographs and I don’t mind being called as an “anti-humanist photographer”.

The obsession of certain subjects sometimes makes me go to the exact same place and take more and more photos from the same point of view. I’m really interested in series of “almost the same photograph”.

I am now living in Japan and this country is a never-ending source of inspiration for me. Old things and shiny new things coexist in the same space, old trains made just after World War II can encounter the futuristic shape of the Shinkansen…”
