I had a couple reactions to recent NY Times piece on legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz by writer Allan Salkin. First, I am saddened by the turn of events which placed her in such a dire financial position, owing more than $24 million dollars that is due today…and having put up her lifetime collection of photography as collateral. Finally, I was amazed to learn her archive was recently valued in excess of $50 million. While I have been an admirer of her work …well, since forever, it is a lesson to all that contemporary photography can have tremendous value.
