Listed below are the Best Camera Tripods for any budget. Regardless of how steady the hand, using a tripod can dramatically improve the sharpness of your images. While not suited for every type of photography…I hear you street photographers…when you have the ability, I suggest using a tripod. Today, most lenses on the market are very sharp, it’s motion blur you need to be concerned about. Considering the cost of everything else in your bag, a quality tripod can be found at very affordable prices.

For the sports photographer toting the large glass, the monopod is a must. Not only does a monopod improve the crispness of your photos, it will allow you to easily hold a horizontal plane as you pan around the field.

For landscape photography, a tripod serves several purposes. The ability to use slower shutter speeds reduce the aperture used is common knowledge, however, it also allows the photographer to contemplate the scene at hand. I love printing full frame, so by using a tripod I can critically evaluate the image at hand, making slight adjustments in my vantage point to only include what is absolutely necessary. It’s a hangover from my film days, when I hated to crop anything in the darkroom.

For portrait photographers, hand held photography is an option, but a sturdy tripod allows you to adjust your lighting while keeping the subject and camera constant.

Tripods can in a vary of shapes and sizes since they have many different uses. I currently have which I use on a regular basis. One heavy weight and sturdy tripod for landscape and portrait/commercial use…..one lightweight tripod for travel photography…and a monopod for sports photography.

Regardless of your photography style, I suggest keeping one handy at all times. It’s cheap insurance for great photography.

I do agree with your post. A good tripod is essential kit for taking good photos. Lenses with Image Stabalization do go some way to helping if “the tripod is at home” or you left it in the car.
