Just completed my upgrade from WordPress 2.5 to 2.7…phew…Note to readers…Don’t do this on a Friday night. For starters I installed the WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin…rave reviews…sounds like a great idea…until…Yes, until things started to go into the sh*tter and then you find all the articles which say, “Do not use an automatic upgrade tool”…However, in all fairness, my issues were not related to this plugin…My first problem started after the upgrade and I couldn’t log back in...After reading a bit on the topic, clearing the cookies initially would have saved me from re-setting my password 2 times. Now that I’m in, the front page did not have a side bar…weird, since all the single posts have it…hmmm…and then I remember that the Simple Tags plugin acted squirrely a while back….ok, upgrade this plugin…and bingo…back in business.
In re-reading the previous paragraph, I seemed to have omitted the swearing that could be heard from 3 blocks away, the 3 beers I inhaled while staring at the login error message, wondering if my theme was even compatible with WP2.7 and considering about just abandoning the site altogether…a little irrational, admittedly, but I was preparing myself for the worst case scenario.
In any case, WordPress 2.7 is pretty cool. I like the automatic plugin upgrades..nice touch…the quick post section is alright, but I can’t seem to find the link button which makes it useless…however, I am glad to have finally done it…tired of seeing the “upgrade to wp 2.7″ message every time I logged in…
Now, mind you, I didn’t write this post to discourage anyone from upgrading…really…it is a better interface….just thought I’d let you know, in case you, too, run into issues, that you’re not alone!

good to see your blog still PR 4
