5 Photographers to Follow on Friday

João Canziani was born & raised in Lima, Peru, spent adolescence in  Vancouver, and is now based in New York City. A fascination for different  cultures led him to travel whenever he could. João calls home wherever  he takes his camera. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well  as a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Photography from Art Center College of  Design in Los Angeles. João was named one of 30 emerging photographers to watch in 2005 by Photo District News.

France based photographer Cristof Echard

Craig Albert LaCourt is a New York based photographer whose unique style rides the line between fashion and editorial portrait photography.  He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and at the young age of two moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where he enjoyed growing up on Lake Superior’s majestic southern shore.   He studied fine art photography in the BFA program at Western Michigan University, where he won multiple awards for his intriguing imagery while holding several solo shows and participating in multiple group shows. Craig moved to New York in 2000 and enjoyed assisting for, working with, and befriending a plethora of talented photographers, traveling throughout the world on editorial and advertising projects.  He has had his own work featured in several magazines and on numerous album covers as well as national promotions for record labels.

born in Montreal. East Coast raised. Jake Stangel nows live in sunny Portland, OR. Very much enjoy writing, packing light, eating fruits and vegetables, and riding my bike everywhere. Also interested in American industrial/trade history, and will be shooting a documentary project on former U.S. industrial powerhouses in 2010.

Melissa O’Hearn was born in Casper, Wyoming the same year Elvis died. She grew up with 5 sisters and countless pets. Her grandpa made a living taking photographs for the Civilian Conservation Corps during the depression. The first time she cried happy tears was when her dad gave her a SLR camera. She began shooting lots of things on film.

She now lives in Seattle and shoots advertising campaigns, editorial projects and various art. She is a dog and cat person. Her mom is very proud.
