Interest in mobile photography is exploding. From the front pages of the New York Times and the Sydney Morning Herald to national television coverage in Australia, Spain, and Singapore, Mobile Photography & Art has captured the attention of both the media and the general public. The number of talented artists producing world-class work in the medium is astonishing.
The Mobile Photo Awards site went live on September 24. In less than a week we have had nearly 5000 visitors from 69 countries. Mobile photographers are able to submit their best images in up to three categories including traditional photographic genres as Landscapes, Self-Portraits, and Street Photography as well as uniquely modern areas such as Digital Art and software enhanced Abstractions. The Mobile Photo Awards is also an open call for a traveling gallery exhibit featuring the winners of 25 categories. Exhibits will take place at San Francisco’s prestigious ArtHaus and Miami’s ArtLink, with more galleries to be announced.
Submissions will be accepted until November 30th, 2011, a shortlist of category winners will be announced in mid-December and the grand prize winner the first week of January.
There are some great prizes up for grabs including a $500 Apple Store gift card grand prize, $50 iTunes gift cards, fine art prints, photo books from Keepsy, desktop photo editing software and inclusion on the gallery tour.
