“I’m an emerging photographer living in the NYC area with a current focus of black and white photography. Featuring portrait, street, and landscape. I shoot mainly in available light, involving the human element, light and shadow. I’m able to capture mood, self examination, with an intuitive vision. I tell a cinematic story and create a tension or excitement even mystery for the viewer and for me, the artist.”
“The majority of my work is shot on the streets of NYC. I love the raw emotion of the city. It can be read in the faces I shoot. I carry my camera everyday availing me the opportunity to shoot and season my eye. When i started out, my work consisted mostly of architecture, certain locations. I studied closely pieces of buildings and how they changed in the light. I was always torn about the work, it was lacking something.Then one day I was shooting a street scene in SOHO, instead of waiting for people to move out of frame I let them walk in, and realized it was more layered with people in the images.”
“My focus now when shooting street is the human element. In that focus I’m able to capture mood, self examination, or whatever the scene offers to my mode in the moment. Yet still keeping to a focus of capturing human feeling and creating a tension or excitement for me the photographer. I guess Its sort of an organized chaos.
The signal that tells me I’ve captured the emotion of the scene is an intuitive one, a feeling in my gut before I shoot. It’s a feeling of urgency, and a knowing that if I don’t click the moment will disappear.”
