Nothing says “awh” like a great pet photo. Since I am particularly fond of dog photography, I have put together 20 Awesome Dog Photography Blogs. The pet photography business has grown dramatically in recent years, but I would still consider it a niche market. Produce incredible images, and word of mouth will spread quickly.
Depending on the market you reside in, pet photography can be a stand alone business. If you happen to live in a smaller market, pet photography is a nice way to supplement your other photographic offerings. However, to be successful in this market, you must have a general love for animals. I really believe this. Great pet photographs are a portrait of each beloved pet, which bring out their character and beauty. This type of photography requires a great deal of patience ( and sometimes cleanup), that can be lucrative and rewarding.
Many of the pet photographers I’ve selected are not “dog specific”, however, there were chosen based on the dog photography viewed from their site.
