How good is the iPhone camera? I was lucky enough to have a friend that would let me test drive his iPhone camera. Personally, I thought the iPhone camera did OK (not great, not bad) for a camera phone.
What are the limitations of iPhone pictures? For well lit scenes and in heavy shade, the iPhone did a nice good. However, the iPhone struggles with contrasty scenes. It’s not the end of the world, just nice to know what type of limitations you’re dealing with. I really liked shooting close up candids with the iPhone, but when shooting subjects near infinity the images appear softer than they should be. Another thing I noticed is that bright colors seem to blend together, i.e., early generation digital camera exposure algorithms. The exposure range of the iPhone has noticeable exposure limitations. Steer away from low light photography or brightly lit settings.
Overall iPhone camera review? The iPhone is cool, trendy and ergonomically sound. Most iPhone photo bloggers do not buy the phone for the camera. Rather, they simply utilize the camera as part of the great iPhone media tool that it is. How great is it to be able to photograph, write/edit text, and post all from one device? Pretty sweet. If the iPhone camera were sold separately you wouldn’t buy it, but it does a decent job for an integrated camera. Look for the camera to be one of the first areas Apple will look to enhance with the next evolution of the iPhone.
iPhone is pretty expensive here.
The great thing about iPhone blogging is how easy it is with blogging applications (like for WordPress, which is what I use, and Typepad). I can take a photo and post the blog straight from my phone. That’s what inspired me to create mine. Thanks for the listing!
